Florence Francis Chambers, 89, longtime parishioner of St. John the Apostle Church, Oregon City, died Jan. 5. There will be a rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. John the Apostle.

Mrs. Chambers was born Feb. 28, 1927, at St. Paul, Nebraska,  the youngest of 11 children born to Floryan Palacz and Constantia Chrapkowski Palacz.   She lost her mother at age 9 and later moved with her older siblings to Washington and then Oregon.  She married Irvan H. (Pete) Chambers March 31, 1951.  They had been married 54 years at his death in 2005, living in Gladstone for most of those years.  Mrs. Chambers was a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom to her son Mark.  She enjoyed cooking, canning and baking and will be remembered for her wonderful apple pies and applesauce.  She will also be remembered for her gentle, loving, caring presence. 

She is survived by her son, Mark, her grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Pete and six sisters and four brothers.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oregon Alzheimer’s Association, 1650 NW Naito Pkwy #190, Portland, OR 97209.
