Florence Klein died peacefully March 24 after a brief illness. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., Monday, April 3, at Holy Cross Church (5227 N Bowdoin St, Portland).  A brief reception will follow at the parish hall.

Mrs. Klein was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, where she graduated from St. Mary High School in 1937 as class valedictorian.  Her family moved to Portland promptly after her graduation where she remained until her death.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, William Klein, and their son, Gerard.

She is survived by her sister, Delores Huwaldt; five children, Janet Robinson, William Klein, Monica Ellquist, Joel Klein and George Klein; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with raising her family, Florence worked for Multnomah County, the U.S. Corps of Engineers, and the University of Portland.  She worked at voting polls several years after her retirement.

An interment will be scheduled and conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Holy Cross School or Union Gospel Mission.
