Florine O'Dell Bryant, 90, of Portland, (born March 4, 1926) died peacefully on Dec. 7. There was a funeral Mass at St. Stephan Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Boone Bryant, and sons Daniel Bryant, Jeffrey Bryant, and Randal Bryant.

She is survived by Jim and Terry Bryant of Rockaway, Oregon, Robert Bryant, Richard Bryant, Maryanne Robins, Anne Marie Farrell, Wendy and Bryan Bryant-Giles of Portland, Joanne Bryant of Olympia Washington, and Suzanne and Phillip Berikoff of Ottawa, Canada. Florine was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bryant joined the workforce after her youngest daughter started school. Her unwavering faith in God and her mission to service led her to work in the audiovisual department for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon for over 20 years. She also volunteered at St. Francis Assisi Parish in various capacities, then at St. Stephen Elementary School, where she taught and prepared students for their First Communion and confirmation. Until Mrs. Bryant became ill in late September 2016 she was active in visiting people who were not able to attend church. She went to their homes weekly, allowing them to receive proper communion and prayer.

Mrs. Bryant always had a passion for gardening and flowers. She was a member of a local garden club and if there was ever a day that she had to decide between housework and yard work you would always find her outside.

She also enjoyed going to the Oregon Symphony and the theater.

Her eyes always lit up when her grandchildren or great-grandchildren would walk into the room.

While the family says they and friends have been left behind grieving their loss, Mrs. Bryant has after 22 years been reunited with her husband Bruce Bryant in heaven, along with her three sons.
