Yolanda Ventura Reyes died peacefully at age 74 Jan. 13 in Happy Valley, surrounded by family. There was a funeral Mass at Christ the King, Milwaukie.

Mrs. Reyes was born Jan. 15, 1942, in Bayambang, Pangasinan Philippines.

She worked caring for others as an emergency room and ICU registered nurse at Kaiser Hospital and OHSU.  She was devoted to the Catholic faith and attended St. Anthony Church and Christ the King Church, she also volunteered as a eucharistic minister offering holy communion to the elderly.  She sang in the choir and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and The American Heart Association.  Her many qualities include selflessness, courage, kindness, giving and an infectious laugh. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Flaviano Diaz Reyes, Sr.; her sister Lilia Ventura Parel; brother Fortunato Ventura; four children: Flaviano V. Reyes, Jr. (Fern), Mary Kirk (Alan), Christina Scherer (Nathan) and Marialisa Francetich; five grandchildren and a niece.

The family thanks Providence Hospice and The Peaceful Care House for their care and kindness.

Interment was at Gethsemani Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to LaSalle High School.
