Holy Redeemer Soccer Club and Saints Soccer Academy will host a U.S. Youth Soccer TOPSoccer program this spring at Holy Redeemer School in Portland. TOPSoccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program encourages any boy or girl who has a mental or physical disability to learn and play soccer.

“Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the U.S. Youth Soccer family,” according the organization’s website.

Soccer practices will be held May 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Holy Redeemer, 127 N Rosa Parks Way. The Wednesday practices are from 6-7 p.m.

The program is free and open to all children from kindergarten to sixth-grade who have a mental or physical disability. Applications also will be accepted for middle school and high school students who’d like to volunteer as a “soccer buddy” and assist coaches.
