Regarding “After aggressive encounter, St. James Parish reconsiders security measures,” (Feb. 3, page 7):
Your story reports the installation of security measures at St. James Parish in McMinnville because of an incident with an unbalanced man wielding a knife.
Our parish has done the same. We used to just walk into the parish office. Now we push a button and wait for admittance.
I think we should give President Trump’s administration the benefit of the doubt regarding a pause on immigration from countries producing the most unbalanced individuals wielding knives — and bombs.
A temporary executive order does not mean America is slamming the door on persecuted people.
