Regarding the film “The Shack”: It is not doctrinal.
It is a story illustrating the love of the Trinity. It takes the saddest and worst-case scenario and walks it through. Understanding gently comes to Mack — he was never alone. The Trinity was there suffering beside him in every sorrow and trial.
And then the Father (Papa) gets to the big one: forgiveness. As for Mack, it is where we humans often get stuck. By not forgiving, we cannot enter into heaven. We need God’s help to get there.
We are in “field hospital” times, and have to first stop the bleeding. The movie opens our hearts to God’s love. And yes, we are all precious to him, which is why his Son took our place on the cross.
