Ella Marie Quinlan, 91, died Oct. 18. There was a funeral Mass at the Madeleine.

Mrs. Quinlan was born Jan. 4, 1925 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Jack and Mary Ella Donahue.

One of eight children, she enjoyed a storied childhood in Longview, Washington, and remained close to her siblings all her life.

She graduated from Washington State University in 1946. Her first job was working for Evelyn Gibson Gowns in Portland as a buyer. In 1950 she married Frank Quinlan. Together they would raise six children. She worked for the Real Estate School of Oregon for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 70. Ella, with great gusto, became a world traveler, visiting over fifteen countries in the last years of her life.

She volunteered with Catholic Charities and numerous other causes her entire life. She was a member of the Archbishops Seminary Tea Committee, the Oregon Historical Society, the Portland Civic Theatre and the Portland Art Museum.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years and brothers Pat and Frank Donahue. She is survived by her six children, Tim, Brian, Frank Jr. "Buz", Kellan Owens, Brendan and Erin Merrifield and their spouses; and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Trudy Felder, Peggy Lewis, John Donahue, Bernard Donahue and Irita Nicholas

The family suggests remembrances to Catholic Charities.
