LAKE OSWEGO — June McAllister, 97, passed away quietly Dec. 23, 2016. A funeral mass in her memory will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 3, 2017 at the Mary's Woods Chapel on the Retirement Community Campus, 17400 Holy Names Dr, Lake Oswego. Valet parking is provided.
She was born April 10, 1919 in Buhl Idaho, the only daughter of Alois and Madeline Willeman, immigrants from the Alsace-Lorraine region, which was then part of the German Empire. A homemaker and thoroughly a Westerner, she raised her family through moves from Utah to Washington State and finally Oregon. She lived in the Portland Metro Area from 1963. For the last 14 years she lived at Mary's Woods Retirement Community in Lake Oswego Oregon.
A compassionate giver to others, she freely offered her time and energy to a number of catholic volunteer activities and neighborhood organizations. Books were her constant companion and her first question to others was always, “What are you reading, dear?”
June was married to Robert McAllister for 54 years before he died in 1998. She is survived by Robert Jr., David and James — her sons — and by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Mary's Cathedral Altar Society in her name.
