Kathleen "Kay" Yvonne Judge
February 08, 1931 - January 06, 2017

BEAVERTON — Kathleen “Kay” Yvonne Judge, 85, passed away on Friday morning, January 6, at her Beaverton home. There will be a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, on Holy Trinity Church, 13715 SW Walker Rd., followed by a reception.

Kay was born on February 8, 1931, in Tacoma, Washington. She was the daughter of William and Delia (Farley) Thaden. She was raised in Tacoma, attended Holy Rosary and St Patrick Grade Schools, and Aquinas Academy High School, graduating with the Class of 1949. She then attended Holy Names College, attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Art in 1953.

She met her future husband, William “Bill” Judge, as a freshman in college at a dance they attended. During her senior year, Kay and Bill’s courtship blossomed and the couple was married Aug. 1, 1953. Their married life started out in Great Falls, Montana, then the couple moved to the Chicago area, where they had three children; Colleen, Bill and Mary. In 1963, they moved to Tacoma, and had two more children: John and Kelly.

In 1967, they moved to Seattle, where Amy was born. The family then moved to Quincy, Washington, in 1974. In 2014 they moved to Beaverton to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

A lifelong student of art, Kay was inspired to study artists and their works, and always enjoyed outings to museums. As an accomplished artist, she produced a vast amount of paintings, drawings and sketches over the years.

In Quincy, Kay arranged community art shows, participated in book clubs, coffee clubs, Birthright, and Habitat for Humanity. She loved all kinds of music, helped plan and attended numerous community concerts, and taught her girls to play the piano. She was an active member of her church, St. Pius X. Over the years, Bill and Kay got to travel for work and pleasure, including destinations in Europe and Peru.

Family was first to Kay. Thanksgiving and Easter were big Judge family celebrations. Most of all, Kay enjoyed spending quality time with Bill, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her husband, Bill, six children and their spouses; Colleen (Dan) Robisch of Otis Orchard, Washington, Bill (Rose) Judge of Canby, Mary (David) Emmick of Issaquah, Washington, John (Susan) Judge of Milwaukie, Kelly (Tony) Lucarelli of Beaverton, Amy Judge of Beaverton, her sister “Little Pot” Marilyn Thaden Dexter of Sedona, Arizona, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
