Frances Keller

Frances “Fran” Elaine Keller (Fran), devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully March 25 at her home in Milwaukie after a short battle with cancer.  There was a funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church.

Mrs. Keller was born the second of 12 children Feb. 20, 1927, on a ranch in Garfield County, Washington to John and Albina McGreevy.  She attended a one-room school in Gould City, Washington and high school in Pomeroy, Washington.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Names College in 1948.  After graduation, she moved to Portland to attend a medical technician program at St. Vincent Hospital Medical.  She made many friends in the Chancellor Club of Portland, including William Keller, whom she married June 27, 1953.  In addition to raising seven children, Mrs. Keller enjoyed tennis, played in multiple bridge groups and spent time at the family home in Cannon Beach.  In recent years, she volunteered for outreach ministries of St. Agatha Parish, including the Altar Society, the Thrifty Cottage, the Clifford House and 55 and Over, the seniors’ group.  She was a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, the Archbishop’s Seminary Tea Committee and a lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.

She is survived by her husband, William, of 63 years; sons Joseph (Frances), John (Del), James (Katy), Paul (Kirsten) and Robert (Cynthia); and daughters Margaret Keller and Anne (Jeff) St. Mary.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four siblings, Edna Mae Barnes, Patricia Woodward, Thomas McGreevy and Kenneth McGreevy; and many nieces and nephews.

Private interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of St. Agatha.
