BEND — The last confirmation for calendar year 2008 took place at Prineville this past weekend. Since the event coincided with the Second Sunday of Advent, which is also the Second Sunday of the new liturgical year, I took the opportunity once again to quiz the children and instruct the parish about the liturgical year.

BEND — A short trip to La Pine and to Sunriver would have made for a very easy weekend but adding on the additional trips to Gilchrist and Holy Family, near Christmas Valley, made for a full day. Confirmations were held at both Holy Redeemer in La Pine and Our Lady of the Snows at Gilchrist with parish Masses celebrated at Holy Trinity in Sunriver and Holy Family.

The month of November, 2008, will go down in history. For the first time an African-American was elected President of these United States. Some would say our national shame was removed. People the world over seem overjoyed by this accomplishment. They are saying that maybe we Americans aren’t so bad after all.
