For the first 50 years of the Catholic Sentinel, photos were rare. And until the 1980s, most photos showed buildings or stiffly posed dignitaries. With the arrival of photographer Gerry Lewin in 1981, a new photojournalism emerged in the paper. Many fine photographers followed. Here are some of our most memorable moments in time.
