This year’s William Byrd Festival, the 22nd in Portland, takes place Friday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 25, at various locations around Portland, including Holy Rosary Church in Northeast and St. Philip Neri Church in Southeast.

Events include concerts, recitals, lectures, Masses, a compline and an evensong. Guest speakers, conductors and performance groups include Ross Duffin, Blake Applegate, Mark Williams and William Mahrt, all experts in 16th-century music.
