De La Salle North Catholic High School has received a $600,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to support construction of the school’s new $20.5 million campus, set to open next fall. The campus will be the first new Catholic high school campus in Portland in more than 50 years.

De La Salle is relocating from North Portland to the St. Charles Parish property at Northeast 42nd and Killingsworth. The campus will include renovations of the parish’s old elementary school building as well as the construction of a new building. The new campus will have science labs, art studios and a gymnasium.

The school is fundraising to build a gymnasium and weight room to host its state championship-winning athletic teams’ practices and home games.

The Murdock Trust provides grants to organizations in the Pacific Northwest that seek to strengthen the region’s educational, spiritual and cultural base in creative and sustainable ways.
