Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are welcome to remove their masks while outside at The Grotto in Northeast Portland. The Catholic sanctuary still requires masks inside buildings and asks all guests to observe social distancing guidelines.

The Grotto is responding to Pope Francis’ request that Catholics and Marian shrines pray for an end to the pandemic. There is Mass daily at noon in the Chapel of Mary, preceded by a rosary with that special intention. Masks are required during the liturgies and there are capacity limits.
