MEDFORD — Onlookers witnessed a powerful moment here last month when the undefeated Sacred Heart School middle school girls varsity volleyball team met the undefeated Rural Virtual Academy. Sacred Heart won the first set, RVA the second, and the final went 15-12 to RVA.

Eyewitnesses say the game was overshadowed by the players coming together at the game’s end to pray. The players offered a prayer of thanks for a great game, the gifts of hard work in the passionate display of skill showed by all, and for a fruitful closing of the season for both teams with final games coming in the final weeks.

“It was a beautiful moment as both teams held each other close, exchanged smiles and gave the glory of the night’s game to God,” wrote school officials in their newsletter.
