Holy Cross School has reason to celebrate because its students read more than 237,718 minutes this summer, earning them the title of “Best in State” for Oregon in the 2017 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. It’s the fifth year in a row the North Portland school has won the honor.

The school, to be featured in 2018 Scholastic Book of World Records, will receive a commemorative plaque and a celebration kit to commemorate the students’ achievements.

The challenge aims to curtail the learning loss that can occur over the summer.
