OREGON CITY — The first service project of the year at St. John the Apostle School here came just after news of the hurricane and severe flooding in Houston. Families, friends and neighbors donated to help families and schools in the devastated Texas city. Among donations were diapers, blankets, cleaning supplies, household items, clothing, pet food and school supplies.

Students helped organize donations, boxed items and unloaded and loaded cars. The school partnered with 24 Hour Fitness and Feeding America for the shipping of 50 boxes.
