ST. BENEDICT — Benedictine Father Liem Nguyen of Mount Angel Abbey celebrated 25 years of priestly ordination June 16 with a Mass in the abbey church. Father Liem made his first vows at Mount Angel in September 1989 and was ordained on June 11, 1994.

Having filled various roles over the years, in both the seminary and monastery, Father Liem currently is the novice master and junior master. In this role, he teaches classes and guides the formation and vocational discernment of newer monks and those deciding whether to profess vows.

For his Jubilee card, Father Liem chose a verse from Jeremiah, chapter 29: “For I know well the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope.”
