Dina Marie Hale, a local Catholic speaker, continues what she calls a “Lenten adventure” at parishes across the Archdiocese of Portland.  Last year Hale offered “Embrace the Wood of the Cross” at 11 locations in the archdiocese. This year she continues to offer that presentation as well as “From Creche to Cross: Our Call to Holiness.”

Hale said she will reveal ways to embrace the cross in daily life and how to discover true joy and real happiness on the road to Calvary.  “You will be able to take home practical tips on how to always be ready to say ‘yes’ when Jesus calls us to ‘Come follow me,’” she explained.

People can join Hale at the following locations:

• On Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Michael Church in Sandy, Stations of the Cross begin at 6 p.m. followed by a soup supper at 6:30 p.m. and “Embrace the Wood of the Cross” at 7 p.m. in the parish hall.

• On Friday, March 13, 9 – 11:45 a.m. at The Grotto Conference Center in Northeast Portland, Hale offers “Embrace the Wood of the Cross: Becoming Disciples for Christ.” Mass is offered in the Chapel of Mary at noon followed by a simple soup supper in the conference center.

• On Wednesday, March 18, 7 p.m. at St. Edward Church in North Plains, Hale leads “From Creche to Cross: Our Call to Holiness.” Fellowship and refreshments follow in the parish hall.

• On Saturday, March 21, 4 p.m. in the Fireside Room at The Madeleine Parish in Northeast Portland, Hale presents “Embrace the Wood of the Cross.” The vigil Mass follows at 5 p.m. in the church.
