BRIDAL VEIL — The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist here invite young women to a day of discernment set for Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The day will include Mass, prayer, a talk, discussion and an experience outside in creation. Lunch will be included.

The location is the Franciscan Life Education Center, a 105-year-old home in the Columbia River Gorge that is also the sisters’ convent — 48100 E Historic Columbia River Highway, Bridal Veil.

Founded 1973, the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist have embraced the Second Vatican Council’s call to engage the modern world in a fresh way and have chosen to retain traditions they found vital to religious life: wearing the habit as an identification and witness, living communally in a convent and abiding by clear lines of authority in the church.

In Oregon, the sisters founded and run Franciscan Montessori Earth School.
