Sister Denise Desil, the Haitian nun who has made frequent trips to Oregon to seek support for her congregation’s ministry, sent messages from Port au Prince this summer.

Recently, her two brothers, Raynold and Leon, who resided in New York and Florida, passed away. Sister Denise was able to travel to their funerals.

As superior general for her religious community, the Little Sisters of St. Therese, she continues to direct ministries and to construct much-needed safe housing for the elderly sisters. Sister Denise said she is grateful for the prayers and generous gifts of Oregonians she has met during her visits prior to the pandemic.

Sister Denise looks forward to her return to Oregon, where she will be a guest of the Holy Names Sisters at Marylhurst.
