LAKE OSWEGO — Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 650 A Ave. here, offers a fall day of renewal led by Auxiliary Bishop Peter Smith Saturday, Oct. 19, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Theme of the day is “Build Unity in the Power of the Holy Spirit.”

Coffee, tea hot chocolate and morning snacks will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their own lunches.

There will be no registration fee and a free will offering will be taken up. Dan Scott will provide music.

Bishop Smith, a priest of the Portland Archdiocese since 2001, became auxiliary bishop in 2014. He is vicar general and was formerly the archdiocesan Catholic Charismatic Renewal liaison. He is a member of the Brotherhood of the People of Praise, a Catholic religious community of lay and ordained celibate men which is part of the People of Praise, a lay-based, ecumenical charismatic community.

Pope Francis named Bishop Smith to the Charismatic Renewal International Service, which the pope inaugurated on Pentecost 2019 as a Vatican-based service providing pastoral support for charismatic Catholics. In his new role, Bishop Smith has oversight of the English and French-speaking charismatic communities in North America and the Caribbean.
