The National Religious Vocation Conference will honor Sister Michael Francine Duncan of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon with an Outstanding Member Recognition Award during a virtual convocation Oct. 28-31.

This award is given at the biennial convocation, and there have been only 34 recipients since the honor’s inception in 1990. The prize celebrates members who provide leadership, engage in collaborative efforts with organizations to foster vocations, initiate and/or develop vocation programs, and develop innovative and creative approaches to vocation ministry.

Sister Michael Francine was installed as superior general for the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon in June after serving as the order’s director of vocations for almost 15 years.

“My work as vocation director and as a counselor in the mental health field have allowed me to integrate my skills that benefit individuals and my community,” said Sister Michael Francine. “I have had the opportunity to deal with current issues and societal change that impact religious life.”
