BEAVERTON — The retreat must go on.

The Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows who run Our Lady of Peace Retreat here have decided to offer their annual Summer Institute online for free.

It’s the 47th year for the faith formation event, set for July 13-16. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s the first time for a digital event.

Theme of the four-day education conference is “Living, Loving and Defending Our Faith.”

Speakers include Steve Ray, an evangelist who became Catholic after being a Baptist. He offers a video series and pilgrimages to the Holy Land and Catholic Europe. He’ll lead a multi-session course called “Defending the Eucharist and Mary, Woman of Mystery.” He’ll also give a talk called “From Baptist to Catholic.”

Father John Horgan is pastor of St. Pius X Parish in Vancouver, British Columbia. Also an author, he’ll give four talks and take questions on the theme, “Private Revelations — Visions and Messages.” He’ll also talk on “Discernment According to the Mind of the Church.”

Rolando Moreno, director of Catechesis and Formation for the Archdiocese of Portland, gives a lecture named, “The Way of a Disciple: Witnessing to the Hope That Is in You.” Julie Onderko, Catholic speaker and radio talk show host, speaks on “Stories and Adventures of the Saints with our Eucharistic Lord.”

Free tickets are available at go.sentinel.org/2Y0WNUK. For more information, contact Sister Maria Benedicta at srbenedicta@fmsolp.org or 503-649-7127.
