SPRINGFIELD — Catholic Community Services of Lane County has new members and new leaders for its board of directors.

The organization thanked outgoing chairwoman Mary Harwood and welcomed Don Gordon as new chairman. Gordon, who is retired, is a member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Eugene.

Harwood, who remains in the board, is a member of Nativity Ukrainian Parish in Springfield and an elementary school teacher.

New members include Steve Dignam of St. Mary Parish in Eugene who is retired; Kathryn Hart, a member of St. Mary and associate director of scholarship and named faculty stewardship at University of Oregon; and Father Joseph Echeme, a PeaceHealth hospital chaplain.

Tyler Demers, a real estate agent and member of St. Mary, is new vice chairman. John Stacy, vice president of commercial banking at Banner Bank and a member of St. Paul Parish in Eugene, is new treasurer.

Other members of the board are Donna Charko of St. Thomas More, a real estate broker; Roger Hite of First Baptist Eugene, a retired hospital administrator; Cathleen Karcher of St. Paul, owner of JCK Restaurants; Louis Osternig of St. Mary, professor emeritus in the department of human physiology at UO; and Tanya Torres of St. Thomas More, a loan officer at Mann Mortgage.

Completing terms are John Holmes, director of mission and ethics at PeaceHealth, and Don Schroeder, and orthopedic surgeon.

Catholic Community Services of Lane County is seeking new board members for three-year terms. Parishes not yet represented in Eugene/Springfield are St. Mark, St. Peter, St. Jude and St. Alice. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
