Franciscan Sister Paula Jean Miller has been named the new coordinator in the chancellor’s office for the Archdiocese of Portland.

Sister Paula Jean is a member of the same Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist community as is Sister Veronica Schueler, chancellor.

Sister Paula Jean is currently assisting the Department of Canonical Services in the Diocese of Arlington.

She has taught theology at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland; at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas; at St. Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park, California; and at St. Vincent de Paul Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was professor of moral and historical theology at St. Vincent de Paul Seminary.

Sister Paula Jean is author of many articles and two books: "Members of One Body: Prophets, Priests and Kings: An Ecclesiology of Mission" (Alba House), and "Marriage: The Sacrament of Divine-Human Communion," (Franciscan Press).

She holds a doctorate in sacred theology from the John Paul II Institute of Marriage and Family.

“She brings a wealth of learning and experience to the Archdiocese of Portland and I am looking forward to her arrival,” said Sister Veronica in announcing Sister Paula Jean’s position.
