Gerald Cerri was introduced to Nadine Nuss through a mutual friend just prior to his military service in World War II. The pair communicated throughout his military service and were wed upon his return three years later April 20, 1947, at St. Philip Neri Church in Southeast Portland.

Gerald went on to complete his undergraduate degree from University of Portland and had several jobs before landing a 37-year career as a sales manager for the Diamond International Company. Nadine, who had been an administrative assistant, then became a homemaker raising Steven, Kevin and Paula as Gerald travelled for business throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Gerald took a liking to river recreation, so in 1960 the family bought their first boat. That beloved pastime has continued for the last 62 years.

Both Gerald and Nadine are deeply dedicated to their Christian beliefs and have been active members of St. John Fisher Parish in Southwest Portland. Now, both about to turn 97, they continue to cherish family members, social gatherings with their cousins for Tuna Tuesday and Nadine’s bridge group. They have seven grandchildren.

The family held a celebration dinner April 20.
