On Monday, May 9, the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women will sponsor a day of recollection at St. James Parish, 301 Frances St. in Mollala. The theme is Mary as mother and protector.

Speaker will be Father Aniceto Guiriba, pastor of St. James. Ordained by Archbishop Alexander Sample in 2013, Father Guiriba has served in Albany. Born in Camalig, Albay, Philippines in 1977, he received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Bicol University College of Arts and Sciences in 1998. He attended St. Gregory the Great Minor Seminary in Tabaco City, the Divine Word Mission Seminary in Quezon City, receiving a diploma in philosophy in 2005. He then studied at the Divine Word School of Theology in Tagaytay City. He entered Mount Angel Seminary in September 2010.

A $20 fee at the door covers lunch, prepared by the St. James Altar Society.

Sign in is at 9:30 a.m., with the first conference starting at 10 a.m., followed by a question and answer session. Lunch comes at noon and will include announcement of the ACCW Woman of Achievement recognition. The second conference starts at 1 p.m., followed by Mass and a closing prayer.
