Through July, Catholic Community Services of Lane County is joining forces with the Springfield Grocery Outlet for the annual Independence from Hunger campaign.

Shoppers who donate $5 or more at checkout this month get a coupon for $5 off their next Grocery Outlet purchase of $25 or more. Every pre-filled bag of groceries worth $5 or more that shoppers purchase for donation is delivered to the Catholic Community Services Springfield food pantry and distributed to those in need.

Last year, the pantry served more than 10,000 people.

A year ago, Catholic Community Services received 3,450 pounds of food from the campaign at Grocery Outlet, 160 South 14th St. in Springfield.

The store’s owners, Tracy and Tom Hogan, have sponsored the event since 2015.
