The Catholic Sentinel has welcomed four young journalists as the 2021 Sentinel Youth Writers Corps.

This is the fifth year of the project that gives young writers experience and gets the young voice of the church out to readers.

Lindsay Nelson, a member of St. Mary Parish in Corvallis, is a writer studying English at Oregon State University.

Teresa M. Padilla Amador, a homeschooled 18-year-old, is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Cottage Grove.

Amanda Rocha attends St. Anthony Parish in Tigard and is a senior at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton.

Carlie Weigel, a senior at La Salle Catholic College Preparatory, is the editor in chief of The Falconer newspaper.

Each writer will contribute four pieces to the paper in the next year, receiving feedback on writing from the newspaper’s staff.

Weigel’s analysis of post-election reactions appeared in the Nov. 20 issue.
