    LAKE OSWEGO — Dwight George Hagen, 72, died April 279 at OHSU from complications from a brain injury. There will be a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church Thursday, May 16, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception, and then the family will proceed by motorcade to Willamette National Cemetery where Mr. Hagen will be laid to rest with full military honors.

    Annamarie Van Hoomissen Turner McIllece, 91, died April 22 in the West Portland home that she and her husband built. There was a funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Church.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Sister Carolyn Jane Lord, 84, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst April 15. A member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 64 years, her funeral was held in the Chapel of the Holy Names.

    Father Robert Krueger, 90, known as a caring pastor and an advocate for workers, died April 28. There will be a vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, both at St. Andrew Church in Northeast Portland. A reception will follow the Mass.

    MOUNT ANGEL — Dale Francis Kloucek, 88, died April 20. A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at St. Mary Church in Mount Angel. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.

    Laura Ann Krahn died peacefully at home April 22, her 60th birthday, after battling an aggressive form of cancer for two years. A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at St. Philip Neri Church, Southeast Portland.

    Eleanor Margaret “Babe” Killorin Osborn, 86, died March 11 in Portland. There will be a funeral Mass Saturday, May 11, at St. Clare Church in Southwest Portland. The recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.

  • Barbara Elizabeth Thimsen, 90, died March 20 in Boise, Idaho, of a heart attack. In Portland, she had been a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. There was not a funeral service.

    FOREST GROVE — Charles "Charlie" Reece Anderson, 84, a longtime past resident of Deer Island, passed away on March 27, 2019 at OHSU Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro from kidney cancer. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 1 p.m. will precede the funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at St. Anthony of Padua Church. A reception will follow in the church hall. 
  • LAKE OSWEGO — Angela Mae Guerra Jones, 84, died April 2 from complications of leukemia. There was a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church.
  • Joan Downing, 90, died in her sleep March 15 due to pneumonia and complications of Alzheimer's disease. There was a funeral Mass at St. Clare Church.
  • Frances Marie Chambers
    Frances Marie Keller Chambers, 99, a resident of the Courtyard at Mount Tabor, died March 26. There will be a funeral Mass at Ascension Church in Southeast Portland at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16. A reception with light refreshments will follow the interment at 4 p.m. in the parish hall.

    John Weston, 81, of San Francisco, died April 1. There will be a celebration of life and Mass in Portland for his old-time Portland acquaintances at the Central Catholic High School Chapel, 2401 SE Stark St., Portland, on Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m.
  • Mary Fidelma Kennedy Loughran
    Mary Fidelma Kennedy Loughran, 90, of Portland, passed gently from this life in the wee hours of the morning Thursday, April 4, 2019. She received her final few weeks of care at Maryville surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren with visits from the Sisters; music and song from her grandchildren; and ministered to by “Her Deacon,” her youngest son, Dermot from Fairport, New York. There will be a vigil Wednesday, April 10, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pegg Paxon Springer Funeral Home, 4675 SW Watson, Beaverton. All are invited to stop by and pray with the family by Mary’s side, meet and greet family members, sing a song and share a story. There will be a rosary prayed before the funeral Mass on Thursday April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, 5105 SW Franklin Ave, Beaverton. The funeral Mass begins at 11 a.m. The funeral procession departs to Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 333 SW Skyline Blvd. Portland. At 1 p.m. there will be hospitality and a reception at St. Cecilia’s parish hall.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Mary Jo King, 82, died surrounded by her family March 30. There will be a rosary at 10:30 am. April 13 at All Saints Church in Northeast Portland. There will be a reception after Mass in the parish hall.

    Sister of St. Mary of Oregon Mary Alberta Schwall, 94, died April 1. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Motherhouse Chapel, and a funeral Mass at 4 p.m. Monday, April 8, also at the chapel.

    Sister Mary Margaret Kelly, 90, a Sister of Providence for 64 years, died February 24, at St. Joseph Residence, Seattle. There was a funeral Mass at the residence.

    MILWAUKIE — William “Bill” McGreal Keller, 93, died peacefully March 19 at his home. The recitation of the rosary will be at St. Agatha Church Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. Agatha.

    Linda Kay Lindley died peacefully March 4, after a long and hard fight with lung cancer and its many complications. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Clare Church in Southwest Portland. A reception will follow at the Old Barn, 9656 SW Barbur Blvd., Portland from noon until 2 p.m.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Sister Virginia Schroeder, 74, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst, March 19. She was a member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 53 years. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28 in the Chapel of the Holy Names.

    Robert Daniel Simmons, M.D., died Dec. 17, 2018 after a long battle with prostate cancer. His wife and daughters were with him.

    TIGARD — Virginia Ann Hart, 87, of King City, died March 3. There was a funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church.

    ALOHA — Mary Margaret Gorman, 70, died at home Tuesday, Feb. 19, from cancer. She was comforted in her final hours by the care of her daughters, Nicole Spiegel and Lisa Morris, and the visits of many close friends and family members. She was a Holy Cross parishioner.

    BEAVERTON — Sister of St. Mary of Oregon Noreen (aka Sr. George Ellen) Orazio died March 17. There will be a vigil service Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Mary Motherhouse Chapel. The funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 21, at 4 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel.

    Julie Steiner, 79, died February 18, 2019. There was a funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Southwest Portland.
  • McMINNVILLE — Loretta Gloria Gadotti Allen, 86, died of an aneurysm Feb. 27. Her husband and family were with her at her home as she passed peacefully to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ and Mary. There will be a funeral Mass 11 a.m. April 6 at St. James Church, where she was a parishioner. A rosary at 10:30 a.m. will precede the Mass.

    Mary Ellen Schraner, 91, died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving staff members at the Fountains Assisted Living Apartments on March 11. There will be a rosary and funeral Mass at Christ the King Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20.

    BEAVERTON — Kathryn M. "Kay" Kreutzer, 100, died March 1 from complications of old age and dementia. There was a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia Church. 
  • Eadie Roland, 91, died Feb. 17 in Portland of congestive heart failure. She was a member of Immaculate Heart Parish. There was a funeral Mass at the parish.
  • Rosella Allender Lindblad
    Rosella Allender Lindblad, 93, of Portland, passed away March 5, 2019 following a prolonged illness. There will be a funeral Mass at 1 p.m., Friday, March 15, at St. Thomas More Church in Southwest Portland. A rosary is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow.

    BEAVERTON — Sister of St. Mary of Oregon Geraldine Brady, 80, died March 9. There will be a vigil service Wednesday, Mary 13, at 7 p.m. at the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon; a funeral Mass Thursday, March 14, at 4 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel; and interment Friday, March 15, at 9 a.m. in the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Cemetery.

    OREGON CITY — Patricia “Patti” Ellen Monte, 69, died March 5 after going into cardiac arrest and not regaining consciousness. There will be a funeral Mass Friday, March 15, with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m., at St. John the Apostle Church. Father Maxy D’Costa will officiate.
  • Salvatore Brugato
    Salvatore Tony Brugato (Sam), 94, died suddenly in Portland March 5. There will be a funeral Mass 9:30 a.m. March 15 at Sacred Heart in Southeast Portland. A reception at the Eastmoreland Golf Course will follow, as will interment.

    Pauline Olbrich died peacefully on Valentine’s Day, happy to be going home to the Lord. At Ms. Olbrich’s request there will be no funeral. Masses will be said in her name at Holy Rosary and St. Henry, and a family graveside service will be held.

    WEST LINN — Jerry Anthony Gatto, 80, died Feb. 26 of cancer. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Resurrection Church in Tualatin, where he was a parishioner. A celebration of Mr. Gatto’s life will follow in the reception hall.

    Margaret Olive Phelan, 84, died Feb. 19. She was surrounded by family and filled with love when she left this life to see God and her husband, Tom. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church.
  • Dennis O’Meara
    Dennis Patrick O’Meara, 67, a Wall Street banker and life-long soccer enthusiast who helped shape the early development of collegiate soccer in the Northwest, died Saturday, Feb. 16, in Las Vegas of cardiac arrest. There will be a funeral Mass at Ascension Church in Southeast Portland, Thursday, March 14 at noon.

    Joseph Robert “Bob” O’Harrow died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 20, surrounded by his loved ones who mourn his passing but celebrate his life and legacy.

    ROY — David William Schmidlin, 74, a longtime resident of the Banks community recently of Forest Grove, died Feb. 16 at his home. There was a funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Roy.

    Ugo William Raglione, or as everyone affectionately called him “Rags,” died February 15, his family at his side. There will be a funeral Mass at St Mary Cathedral in Northwest Portland Friday, Feb. 22. The rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass at noon. A reception will follow at Cassidy's Restaurant, 1331 SW Washington St. Interment will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m.

    Charles Joseph Keenan, 72, died Feb. 8. He was a member of St. Charles Parish in Northeast Portland. Memorial and burial services will be at a later date due to family members living on the East Coast.

    Judge Garr M. King, 83, died peacefully surrounded by his wife and family in Portland, Feb. 5. There was a funeral Mass at St. Mary Cathedral in downtown Portland.

    Father Ron Millican, 65, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Southeast Portland, died at his residence Feb. 4. Archbishop Alexander Sample will be celebrant at a funeral Mass Tuesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. The priest often could be heard crooning a Sinatra song while out gardening or walking the halls of the parish or school.

    Sister Barbara Lorraine D’Auria (formerly known as Sister M. Darius) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Feb. 3 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. She was 85.
  • Rosemary Leahy Richard
    Mrs. Rosemary Richard, 96, died Jan. 22. A closed casket vigil and rosary were held Jan. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zeller Chapel of Roses. Requiem Mass was said by Rosemary’s grandson, Jesuit Father Sam Conedera Jan. 28 at Holy Rosary Church.

    Dorothy May Dale Cassinelli, 90, of Portland, died peacefully Dec. 20, her husband Leo Cassinelli at her side. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church in Northeast Portland.
  • Maureen 'Mo' Murphy
    LAKE OSWEGO — Portland native and former Olympian Maureen Elizabeth Murphy, 79, died unexpectedly early last week at her home here. The apparent cause of death was a heart attack. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Our Lady of the Lake.

    J. Frank Stupfel, M.D., 96, died Jan. 18 at the family home in Portland. There will be a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Feb. 1 at St. Thomas More Church in Southwest Portland.

    OREGON CITY — Ann Seagraves Landholm, 92, a member of St. John the Apostle Parish, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Jan. 18. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Hillside Chapel.

    STAYTON - William “Bill” Zach, 76, died peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters on the morning of January 10. There was a funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart Church.

    Loving husband, father, brother, Marine, friend, and parishioner, Kenneth Matthies completed his final mission in life Dec. 5. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. There was a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Oswego.

    John Earl Pingo, 78, died peacefully at home Jan. 7 in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 78. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. John the Baptist Church in Milwaukie. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

    ROSEMONT, Pennsylvania – Sister Alice Penrose, SHCJ, a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 71 years, died Oct. 18, 2018. She was 92. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Child Chapel.

    Josephine “Josie” Abcede, 74, of Portland died suddenly Dec. 21, soon after the passing of her husband of 46 years, Reynaldo Abcede. There will be a rosary at St. Pius Church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. A lunch reception will follow.

    Sister Victoria Ann Adlum died peacefully Jan. 4 in a hospice house in Spokane, Washington. Funeral Mass and reception will be Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at South Hill Village [3117 E Chaser Lane, Spokane]. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.
  • MILWAUKIE — Paula Wheatley Mooring Theis, 94, died Dec. 19. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Jan. 19, at St. John the Apostle Church, Oregon City, where she was a parishioner.

    Evelyn Mary LaBella, 94, a resident of Lake Oswego died Dec. 23 at her home. Recitation of the holy rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; 375 NE Clackamas Blvd., Portland. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Rite of Christian Burial will take place at Valley Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.

    Mildred Erceg Simkins, 96, died Nov. 12, 2018 in her home in North Portland where she had lived since 1959, after a long struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church in North Portland, where she was a parishioner.

    Joseph Clinton Rolison, 94, died Dec. 6. Please join the family for a celebration of life Dec. 13 at St. Agnes Church, 3052 D St., Hubbard. A reception will follow in the hall next to the church.

    Ella Belle, "Tomi" Tomlin, 93, a member of St. Ignatius Parish in Southeast Portland, died Nov. 30, surrounded by her family. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at St. Ignatius.

    Carol Marie Rambousek, 68, died suddenly in Stayton Dec. 1. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Church in Sublimity. A rosary preceded the Mass at 10:30 a.m. She was a member of St. Boniface.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Sister Barbara Gfeller (Sister Marion David), 92, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst Nov. 28. A member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 68 years, her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 in the Chapel of the Holy Names at Mary’s Woods.
  • BEAVERTON — David Allen Skidmore, 58 of Tigard, died Oct. 22 after a courageous battle with metastasized lung cancer. There was a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia Church preceded by a rosary led by his brother John. 
  • Dominican Father Paul Aquinas Duffner
    Father Paul Aquinas Duffner, 103, was the eldest friar of the Western Dominicans. He was also one of the few to have served at the limits of the Western Province’s ministries. “It would be hard to imagine a greater contrast,” he laughed, when he contrasted the snow that greeted him at Holy Family Parish in Anchorage, Alaska, to the tropical jungles that were his home for the eight years he served as a missionary in Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico.

    SEATTLE — Sister of Providence Mary Grondin, 81, (Sister Terrence) a member of her order for 62 years, died Nov. 14 at St. Joseph Residence. There was a funeral Mass at the residence, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle. 
  • Sr. Claire Gagnon, SP
    SEATTLE — Sister of Providence Claire Gagnon, 99, (Sister Marcelle Odile) a member of her order for 79 years, died Nov. 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Residence. There was a funeral Mass at the residence, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle. 
  • Sr. Jane Bigelow, SHCJ
    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Jane Bigelow, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 64 years, died peacefully May 15, 2018, at Holy Child Center in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. There was a funeral Mass there. She was 85.
  • Sr. Immaculata DiBlasi, SHCJ
    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Immaculata DiBlasi, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 69 years, died of cardiac arrest Sept. 10, in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. She was 91. There was a funeral Mass in Rosemont.

    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Elizabeth Gehrman, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 68 years, died Dec. 2, 2017.  She was 90.

    Chuck Bleeg, 96, died Nov. 10 in Portland with family at his side. There will be a rosary at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, followed by a 10:30 funeral Mass, both at The Madeleine Church in Northeast Portland, where he was a parishioner.

    Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Minten died November 11, 2018. There was a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church with interment at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Following the burial there was a reception celebrating her life at the parish center.

    Virginia “Ginger” Ann DeCicco-Shinall, 73, died Oct. 26. There will be a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 At St. Pius X Church in Southwest Portland. A reception in the parish hall will follow.
