  • McMINNVILLE — Loretta Gloria Gadotti Allen, 86, died of an aneurysm Feb. 27. Her husband and family were with her at her home as she passed peacefully to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ and Mary. There will be a funeral Mass 11 a.m. April 6 at St. James Church, where she was a parishioner. A rosary at 10:30 a.m. will precede the Mass.

    BEAVERTON — Kathryn M. "Kay" Kreutzer, 100, died March 1 from complications of old age and dementia. There was a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia Church. 
  • Eadie Roland, 91, died Feb. 17 in Portland of congestive heart failure. She was a member of Immaculate Heart Parish. There was a funeral Mass at the parish.
  • Rosella Allender Lindblad
    Rosella Allender Lindblad, 93, of Portland, passed away March 5, 2019 following a prolonged illness. There will be a funeral Mass at 1 p.m., Friday, March 15, at St. Thomas More Church in Southwest Portland. A rosary is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow.

    BEAVERTON — Sister of St. Mary of Oregon Geraldine Brady, 80, died March 9. There will be a vigil service Wednesday, Mary 13, at 7 p.m. at the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon; a funeral Mass Thursday, March 14, at 4 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel; and interment Friday, March 15, at 9 a.m. in the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Cemetery.

    OREGON CITY — Patricia “Patti” Ellen Monte, 69, died March 5 after going into cardiac arrest and not regaining consciousness. There will be a funeral Mass Friday, March 15, with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m., at St. John the Apostle Church. Father Maxy D’Costa will officiate.

    Salvatore Tony Brugato (Sam), 94, died suddenly in Portland March 5. There will be a funeral Mass 9:30 a.m. March 15 at Sacred Heart in Southeast Portland. A reception at the Eastmoreland Golf Course will follow, as will interment.

    Pauline Olbrich died peacefully on Valentine’s Day, happy to be going home to the Lord. At Ms. Olbrich’s request there will be no funeral. Masses will be said in her name at Holy Rosary and St. Henry, and a family graveside service will be held.

    WEST LINN — Jerry Anthony Gatto, 80, died Feb. 26 of cancer. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Resurrection Church in Tualatin, where he was a parishioner. A celebration of Mr. Gatto’s life will follow in the reception hall.

    Dennis Patrick O’Meara, 67, a Wall Street banker and life-long soccer enthusiast who helped shape the early development of collegiate soccer in the Northwest, died Saturday, Feb. 16, in Las Vegas of cardiac arrest. There will be a funeral Mass at Ascension Church in Southeast Portland, Thursday, March 14 at noon.

    Joseph Robert “Bob” O’Harrow died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 20, surrounded by his loved ones who mourn his passing but celebrate his life and legacy.

    ROY — David William Schmidlin, 74, a longtime resident of the Banks community recently of Forest Grove, died Feb. 16 at his home. There was a funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Roy.
  • Dr. Ugo 'Rags' Raglione
    Ugo William Raglione, or as everyone affectionately called him “Rags,” died February 15, his family at his side. There will be a funeral Mass at St Mary Cathedral in Northwest Portland Friday, Feb. 22. The rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass at noon. A reception will follow at Cassidy's Restaurant, 1331 SW Washington St. Interment will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m.

    Charles Joseph Keenan, 72, died Feb. 8. He was a member of St. Charles Parish in Northeast Portland. Memorial and burial services will be at a later date due to family members living on the East Coast.

    Father Ron Millican, 65, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Southeast Portland, died at his residence Feb. 4. Archbishop Alexander Sample will be celebrant at a funeral Mass Tuesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. The priest often could be heard crooning a Sinatra song while out gardening or walking the halls of the parish or school.

    Sister Barbara Lorraine D’Auria (formerly known as Sister M. Darius) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Feb. 3 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. She was 85.
  • Rosemary Leahy Richard
    Mrs. Rosemary Richard, 96, died Jan. 22. A closed casket vigil and rosary were held Jan. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zeller Chapel of Roses. Requiem Mass was said by Rosemary’s grandson, Jesuit Father Sam Conedera Jan. 28 at Holy Rosary Church.

    Dorothy May Dale Cassinelli, 90, of Portland, died peacefully Dec. 20, her husband Leo Cassinelli at her side. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church in Northeast Portland.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Portland native and former Olympian Maureen Elizabeth Murphy, 79, died unexpectedly early last week at her home here. The apparent cause of death was a heart attack. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Our Lady of the Lake.

    J. Frank Stupfel, M.D., 96, died Jan. 18 at the family home in Portland. There will be a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Feb. 1 at St. Thomas More Church in Southwest Portland.

    OREGON CITY — Ann Seagraves Landholm, 92, a member of St. John the Apostle Parish, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Jan. 18. There will be a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Hillside Chapel.

    Loving husband, father, brother, Marine, friend, and parishioner, Kenneth Matthies completed his final mission in life Dec. 5. He passed peacefully with his family by his side. There was a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Oswego.

    John Earl Pingo, 78, died peacefully at home Jan. 7 in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 78. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. John the Baptist Church in Milwaukie. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

    Ann Marie Gander, 61, was born April 22, 1957, in Salem. She died peacefully, with family by her side, Dec. 29 in McMinnville.

    ROSEMONT, Pennsylvania – Sister Alice Penrose, SHCJ, a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 71 years, died Oct. 18, 2018. She was 92. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Child Chapel.

    Josephine “Josie” Abcede, 74, of Portland died suddenly Dec. 21, soon after the passing of her husband of 46 years, Reynaldo Abcede. There will be a rosary at St. Pius Church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. A lunch reception will follow.

    Sister Victoria Ann Adlum died peacefully Jan. 4 in a hospice house in Spokane, Washington. Funeral Mass and reception will be Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at South Hill Village [3117 E Chaser Lane, Spokane]. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.
  • MILWAUKIE — Paula Wheatley Mooring Theis, 94, died Dec. 19. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Jan. 19, at St. John the Apostle Church, Oregon City, where she was a parishioner.

    Evelyn Mary LaBella, 94, a resident of Lake Oswego died Dec. 23 at her home. Recitation of the holy rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; 375 NE Clackamas Blvd., Portland. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Rite of Christian Burial will take place at Valley Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.

    Mildred Erceg Simkins, 96, died Nov. 12, 2018 in her home in North Portland where she had lived since 1959, after a long struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church in North Portland, where she was a parishioner.

    Ella Belle, "Tomi" Tomlin, 93, a member of St. Ignatius Parish in Southeast Portland, died Nov. 30, surrounded by her family. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at St. Ignatius.

    Carol Marie Rambousek, 68, died suddenly in Stayton Dec. 1. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Church in Sublimity. A rosary preceded the Mass at 10:30 a.m. She was a member of St. Boniface.
  • Holy Names Sister Barbara Gfeller
    LAKE OSWEGO — Sister Barbara Gfeller (Sister Marion David), 92, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst Nov. 28. A member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 68 years, her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 in the Chapel of the Holy Names at Mary’s Woods.
  • BEAVERTON — David Allen Skidmore, 58 of Tigard, died Oct. 22 after a courageous battle with metastasized lung cancer. There was a funeral Mass at St. Cecilia Church preceded by a rosary led by his brother John. 
  • Dominican Father Paul Aquinas Duffner
    Father Paul Aquinas Duffner, 103, was the eldest friar of the Western Dominicans. He was also one of the few to have served at the limits of the Western Province’s ministries. “It would be hard to imagine a greater contrast,” he laughed, when he contrasted the snow that greeted him at Holy Family Parish in Anchorage, Alaska, to the tropical jungles that were his home for the eight years he served as a missionary in Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico.

    SEATTLE — Sister of Providence Mary Grondin, 81, (Sister Terrence) a member of her order for 62 years, died Nov. 14 at St. Joseph Residence. There was a funeral Mass at the residence, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle. 
  • Sr. Claire Gagnon, SP
    SEATTLE — Sister of Providence Claire Gagnon, 99, (Sister Marcelle Odile) a member of her order for 79 years, died Nov. 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Residence. There was a funeral Mass at the residence, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle. 
  • Sr. Jane Bigelow, SHCJ
    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Jane Bigelow, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 64 years, died peacefully May 15, 2018, at Holy Child Center in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. There was a funeral Mass there. She was 85.
  • Sr. Immaculata DiBlasi, SHCJ
    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Immaculata DiBlasi, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 69 years, died of cardiac arrest Sept. 10, in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. She was 91. There was a funeral Mass in Rosemont.

    ROSEMONT, Penn. — Elizabeth Gehrman, SHCJ, who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 68 years, died Dec. 2, 2017.  She was 90.

    Mildred “Millie” Mary Kelly Gomoll, 85, died Nov. 7. There was a funeral Mass at St. Philip Neri Church in Southeast Portland.

    Chuck Bleeg, 96, died Nov. 10 in Portland with family at his side. There will be a rosary at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, followed by a 10:30 funeral Mass, both at The Madeleine Church in Northeast Portland, where he was a parishioner.

    Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Minten died November 11, 2018. There was a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church with interment at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Following the burial there was a reception celebrating her life at the parish center.

    Virginia “Ginger” Ann DeCicco-Shinall, 73, died Oct. 26. There will be a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 At St. Pius X Church in Southwest Portland. A reception in the parish hall will follow.

    Mary Annette Granata Rini-Peebler died Nov. 6. There was a funeral Mass at Resurrection Church in Tualatin. Committal takes place Thursday Nov. 15, at the San Fernando Mission Hills Cemetery in Mission Hills, California.

    Elizabeth (Betty) Louise Altstock Feltz, 87, died of congestive heart failure Nov. 7 in Portland. There will be a funeral Mass Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church.
  • Philomenal Irudayaraj, mother of Father Amalanathan Irudayaraj, died Nov. 8 in India. 
  • GRESHAM — Paul Baum, 75, died Nov. 6. There will be a funeral Mass Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Church, where he was a parishioner.
    Mr. Baum was born June 11, 1943, in San Francisco.

    MILWAUKIE — Fr. Bruce Brown died Nov. 2, All Souls Day. There will be a funeral Mass Thursday, Nov. 15, at St. John the Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Viewing will occur from 4 p.m. A reception will follow the Mass, as will a private burial.

    John Gilbertz, 94, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and his favorite dog Rocco. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at All Saints Church, where he was a longtime parishioner. A rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 a.m. and a lunch will follow in the parish hall.
  • OREGON CITY — William Angel Celorie Jr. 88, a member of St. Philip Benizi Parish and resident of Beavercreek, died Oct. 31. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Church.

    Charlene Mae Unrein, 79, a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Portland died Oct. 19 in Portland. There was a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows.

    STAYTON — Lorraine Dorothy Amsberry, 91, died Oct. 18. There was a funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart Church.

    Darlene Greiner died Oct. 17. in Gresham, Oregon. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Portland, followed by a church reception and then a concluding committal service at 12:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

    James Wesley Russell, 64, died in his sleep Oct. 4. There will be a rosary at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 30, followed by a funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie.
  • Brother Francis Weigand, O.S.B.
    Brother Francis Weigand, O.S.B, a monk of Mount Angel Abbey, died Oct. 24, some days after suffering a stroke. He was 86 years of age, and 38 years professed as a monk. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Mount Angel Abbey. May he rest forever in the peace of Christ.

    Father Jack Krall, 82, died Oct. 16. There will be a funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Henry Church in Gresham.

    Irene Ferrante, 94, died Oct. 15 at her home. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Sandy. There will be a funeral at Sandy Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2.

    Lawrence Boyd Hunt, a member of Holy Rosary Parish, died Oct. 10. There will a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Holy Rosary. There will be a viewing at noon that day and the rosary at 12:30 p.m., both also at the church. There will be a reception after the Mass in the parish hall.

    Phyllis Maryanne Knight passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Yakima, Washington. A Celebration of Life event will be held on Saturday, October 13, at Beach Baron's Club House at 255th and Sandridge Rd.

    BEAVERTON — Steven Thomas Wegman, 58, died Sept. 22. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church and burial was at Mount Calvary.
  • Marilee Bailey
    On Saturday, Sept. 29, Marilee "Bunny" Ann Bailey, 81, died. There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 12, at Christ the King Church in Milwaukie.
  • Iona Marion Maloney, 101, died Sept. 11, from age-related causes. There was a funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, Portland.
  • Arthur Schulte Jr.
    Arthur Schulte Jr., a tall, quiet star basketball player from Wyoming who spent 45 years at the University of Portland as professor, dean, vice president, and twice acting president, died Sept. 24 after a long illness. He was 90. A rosary will be held at San Juan Diego Church at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. There will be a funeral Mass at the Chapel of Christ the Teacher at the University of Portland at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, followed by a luncheon at Bauccio Commons. Holy Cross Father Mark Poorman, president of the university, will preside. Holy Cross Father David Tyson, 18th president of the university, will be the homilist. A later interment will be private.
  • Donald Charles Adkisson, 88, died Aug. 24 in Portland. There will be a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at St. Rose of Lima Church.

    Jim Emig, 62, of Portland died peacefully Sept. 16, surrounded by all his family. There will be a funeral Mass at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at St. Ignatius Church in Southeast Portland. A rosary at 4:30 p.m. will precede the Mass.

    "Mary Kay" Hughes Farrier Bettinger died Aug. 13 at Clackamas Sunnyside Hospital after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends. There was a funeral Mass at St. John the Apostle Church in Oregon City.

    LAKE OSWEGO — Sister Maxine Currin (Sister M. Richard James), 95, a Holy Names Sister for 63 years, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst July 24. Her funeral was held in the Chapel of the Holy Names.
  • Donna Jean Macey, 90, died of complications related to lung cancer Aug. 29. There was a funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church in Tigard. 
  • MILWAUKIE — Lucille Mary Paulsohn McEntee, 88, died Sept. 2. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Church in Milwaukie at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.

    Benjamin Gangay Dadios, of Hillsboro, died Aug. 24. There was a funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, in Beaverton, with interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland.

    SALEM — George Edward Candello, Sr. died peacefully April 23, surrounded by family. There was a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, where he was a parishioner. 
  • Mark Ellis, 47, who attended Mass at St. Mary Cathedral in Portland, died July 11 in Eureka, California. There was a graveside service at Gethsemani Cemetery.
