  • ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Helen Schwarz, 92, a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 72 years, died May 10.
  • ROSEMONT, Penn. —Sister Suzanne “Sue” Snyder, 84, (Mother Gregory Mary) who was a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 64 years, died peacefully June 28.
  • Holy Child Sister Lorraine DeViller died May 24.
  • ROSEMONT, Penn. — Sister Kathleen Groh, 95, a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus for 75 years, died at Holy Child Center in Rosemont.
  • GRESHAM — Marion Bridenbeck, 91, died June 23. There was a funeral Mass at St. Henry Church. She was a parishioner there.
  • Franciscan Sr. Patricia Kidd
    ASTON, Penn.—Franciscan Sister Patricia Kidd (formerly Sister St. Jude), 83, died June 30 in Assisi House. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 63 years. There will be a private funeral Mass at Assisi House.
  • APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — Harold Austin “Red” Morrissey, Jr., 89, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died peacefully from a brief COVID illness June 21, in a memory care facility. Funeral services and burial will be in late July at Restlawn Memorial Park, El Paso, where he will be buried with several generations of his family including his precious infant daughter.
  • Franciscan Sr. Frances Calhoun
    ASTON, Penn. —Franciscan Sister Frances Marie Calhoun (formerly Sister Joseph Therese), 93, died in Riddle Memorial Hospital June 29. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 70 years and would have celebrated her 70th jubilee this year. All services will be held at a later date in Assisi House in Aston. They will be private.
  • CANBY — Cleophas “Cleo” Wolf, 95, died at home the evening of June 7, at the age of 95, in the care of his family. His final weeks were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and other loved ones. There was a funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church in Canby.
  • Philip James Lisac, 87, died quietly in his home May 30, surrounded by the love of his wife and family. There was a funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church in Milwaukie, celebrated by Father Maxy D’Costa and Father John Marshall, attended by immediate family members.
  • Jane VanDyke
    Jane VanDyke, 85, a longtime resident of Verboort, died June 14 at the Cornell Estates Retirement Community in Hillsboro. There was a funeral Mass for the family at St. James Church in McMinnville, with Father Ben Tapia, of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Forest Grove as celebrant. Assisting was be Deacon Raul Rodriguez. Burial was at Visitation Cemetery in Verboort. Father Michael Vuky officiated.
  • Benedictine Fr. Andrew Baumgartner
    JEROME, Idaho — Benedictine Father Andrew Baumgartner, 86, died of heart failure June 2. There was a funeral Mass at the Monastery of the Ascension in Jerome. 
  • BOISE, Idaho — Wilbert “Bill” Wilson, 85, a member of Holy Redeemer Parish in North Portland, died May 22.
  • Mary Lou Dyer Ferguson
    BEAVERTON — Mary Lou Dyer Ferguson, 87, died June 11 after months of declining health, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral Mass will be shared by her immediate family. A celebration of life will be held when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. 
  • Benedictine Sr. Alberta Dieker
    MOUNT ANGEL — Benedictine Sister Alberta Dieker, a long-time member of Queen of Angels Monastery, died in the early morning of June 14, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, in the infirmary at Queen of Angels Monastery. She was 99 years old. 
  • Dick Kline
    CORNELIUS — Marlin Richard "Dick" Kline, 70, died May 31 at his home. There was a private Rite of Christian Burial at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Nyssa. A flag honor presentation will follow under the direction of the Oregon Honor Guard. A funeral Mass will be scheduled at a future date. 
  • Patricia Cooke
    Patricia 'Trisha' Kathleen Cooke, 59, a member of Christ the King Parish in Milwaukie, died May 17 in her home surrounded by family. Her death, a shock to her loved ones, came a short time after learning that she had stage four cancer. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date when gatherings are permitted.
  • Update: Compassionate pastor dead at 78
    CANBY — Father John Waldron — a longtime western Oregon parish priest known for compassion, steadfastness and quick wit — died of complications from cancer at his home here May 28. He was 78. 
  • Br. Brian Clearman, O.S.B.
    Benedictine Brother Brian Clearman, 79, a monk of Mount Angel Abbey, died May 29. Vigils of the Dead will be sung Monday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed Tuesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at the Abbey church at mountangelabbey.org/livestream. Burial will immediately follow in the Abbey cemetery.
  • Willa Hendricks Worley
    Willa Hendricks Worley, 94, a longtime resident of Forest Grove, died May 19 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland. There will be a private funeral Mass at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Father Ben Tapia of St. Anthony Parish in Forest Grove is celebrant.
