Margaret Eleanor Dever, 89, beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died Jan. 28 while recovering from COVID-19.
She was married to Frank Dever for 61 years, and was the mother of five daughters.
Born Aug. 19, 1931, in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, Canada, she was the daughter of Earl and Gladys Dexter Norton. She graduated from Holy Names College in 1953 and was a longtime member of St. Cecilia Parish in Beaverton.
Mrs. Dever was active and present in the lives of her five daughters. Her passions for discussing politics and good food, and her love for family and friends were legendary. There was always room for one more at the table. Her ever-present smile, hospitality, and faith-filled life are examples to all, say her family.
Mrs. Dever was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dever. She is survived by her daughters, Meg Mertens (Mark), Rita Dever, Mary Ebert (Wade), Marypat Hedberg (Steve), and Erin Dever; sister, Joyce Richards of Post Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can go to the Margaret Dever Scholarship Fund at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton, or to Edwards Enterprises, a non-profit organization for adults with developmental disabilities.
A funeral Mass for immediate family members was held at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Lake Oswego. The family hopes to gather for a larger celebration of Mrs. Dever’s life later this year.
