Wayne Conwell Jenkins, 84, a member of St. Pius X Parish for 49 years, died July 11 at St. Vincent Hospital. There will be a private funeral service at Willamette National Cemetery.

Mr. Jenkins was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Rich Square, North Carolina, to Mary and Marvin Jenkins.

He was raised at Mooseheart Child City Orphanage in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army 1958-60; married Joyce Wolf June 20, 1959; and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and accreditation from the American Institute of Banking.

Mr. Jenkins was a retired vice president of Wells Fargo, formerly known as First Interstate Bank of Oregon.

Mr. Jenkins called himself the number-one fan of singer Joni James and was a member of the Hillsboro Elks Club.

He was preceded in death by his brother David Jenkins and three of his sibling’s spouses.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce; his sons, Douglas, Derek, and Lance and their spouses; his daughter, Joni Jenkins; six grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, Marissa, Hayden, Tanner and Jesse; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Ellie; and his brother Carl and his sister, Dixie.
