Some 100 people adored Jesus in the Eucharist during the first 24 Hours of Prayer for Justice and Peace event at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Southwest Portland June 15. The event, which included 24 hours of uninterrupted eucharistic adoration in the church, was such a success that the parish did it again June 18 and 25.

“Help us pray so that the power of God’s grace can be brought to bear in the situations in our world” said Society of Mary Sister Teresa Harrell, campus minister for Portland State University, in a video promotion for the events. “In the first place, in converting our own hearts and then in converting our attitudes.

“Let’s pray for the healing of our city, the healing of our nation, the healing of all those hearts that have been wounded because we’ve failed to love with the heart of Jesus,” continued Sister Teresa.

“Let’s focus on loving with the heart of Jesus, adoring the heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and let’s see the power of prayer at work in our nation, in our city and in our own lives.”
