Children from the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at St. Alice Parish in Springfield held a Lenten procession March 9 to bury a card inscribed with the word Alleluia. The youngsters took turns shoveling dirt over the waterproof case holding the card. The act was a sign of Lent, when the word of rejoicing goes out of use until the Easter Vigil. The children will unearth the card then. (Sean Marie Long/St. Alice Parish)
