COOS BAY — Five months into the pandemic, Father Robert Wolf, pastor of St. Monica Parish here, resists thinking that life as it stands will somehow be the new normal. He believes many of the people of God feel the same way.

The parish has been pressing on through the pandemic, livestreaming on Facebook and YouTube, as well as livestreaming conversations with the priest in a Facebook episode called “Ask Father.”

Staff have kept in touch with parishioners over the phone and more recently through mail. As in communities across the archdiocese, the offertory dropped at St. Monica. Receiving a federal Paycheck Protection Program loan, however, kept the parish from having to lay off any of its small staff.
