SWEET HOME — When a long-time St. Helen Parish member and Knight of Columbus here fell ill and needed a wheelchair ramp at his home, his brother knights came to his aid. The Sweet Home Knights of Columbus, Council 8624, spent a Saturday morning building a 30-foot long wooden ramp. Nearly 20 Knights and family members dug post holes, sawed lumber and plywood and crafted a ramp that will serve the family well for years to come. Jim Philpott, owner of the local building supply company, Lester Sales, designed the ramp and provided all materials at cost. The ramp was blessed by Father Fred Anthony, pastor at St. Helen.
