VENETA — Members of St. Catherine of Siena Parish here are using the book “The Whole-Life Confession” as a Lenten spiritual exercise. Published by Sacred Story Press and written by Jesuit Father William Watson, it’s a four-week discernment and reflection process grounded in Ignatian spirituality.

Father Theodore Lange, pastor of St. Catherine, is basing his Lenten homilies in part on each week’s reading. Books were delivered or mailed to several home-bound parishioners so they could participate while following the livestreamed Sunday Mass.

“This is an effort by the pastoral council to give parishioners a tool for handling today’s many challenges, allowing God to be the source of our strength and holiness,” said Sue Hallett, a member of the council.
