BROOKINGS — The people of Star of the Sea Parish here were prominent in a pro-life parade float that won a blue ribbon in the town’s annual Azalea Festival in mid-July.

Members of Star of the Sea, St. Joseph Parish in Crescent City and Lighthouse Assembly of God in Brookings put together the Oregon Right to Life float. The rolling plea to respect the unborn took top prize in the category of multi-group projects.

“Those values are still strong here,” said Kellie Evans, a member of Star of the Sea’s pro-life action group.

Members of St. Joseph Church carried posters with images of the Blessed Mother.
