Kate Sinnott visits with kindergartners.

Rose Festival Princess Kate Sinnott recently visited her alma mater, Holy Family School.

Sinnott grew up in Southeast Portland, and  is currently a senior at Central Catholic High. During her visit, the princess greeted Holy Family students side-by-side with Principal Christy Robinson as the youngsters arrived for school in the morning. She spoke briefly with teachers at a staff meeting, thanking them for their hard work and positive influence in the lives of their students and, in particular, for the positive role Holy Family teachers played in her own education.  She then visited with kindergartners, who were coincidentally celebrating “Princes and Princesses” day.

Sinnott wore her Rose Festival Princess tiara (with which the kindergarteners were quite impressed), and read the kids a story about a princes and princesses. She answered some of their questions, addressing topics as varied as “What do you like to eat?” and “Do you live in a castle?”

At the end of the visit, Sinnott, the kindergarteners and their teacher released a group of butterflies, newly emerged from cocoons, as part of a lesson on metamorphosis.
