MCMINNVILLE — On Nov. 13, the St. James School community here hosted a family STEM night.

Teachers provided a variety of activities focused on science, technology, engineering and math. Students and their parents were asked to visit as many classrooms as possible during the one-hour event and participate together.

The evening’s activities incorporated almost all categories of STEM: construction of turkeys and a turkey shelter; bridge building with the final step of testing the strength of the completed model; math games including sequencing of numbers, number identification, computation of basic facts and fractions; preschool construction projects; and the science of pendulums.

The event was enjoyed by all who attended and considered a success with 70% of students attending with their parents.
