Bryce Strang ended his tenure as vice president for university relations at the University of Portland in December.

“After eighteen years on The Bluff, it’s simply time to take a step back from full-time work responsibilities and transition my energies to the next chapter in my life and our family’s,” Strang wrote to Herbert Me-dina, the university’s acting president.

Since first joining the University in 2003, Strang cultivated student scholarships, secured funding for faculty and led the development ef-forts for the Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center, Dundon-Berchtold Hall and the Franz Campus.

“He leaves an indelible mark on the university,” Medina wrote in an e-mail to the U.P. community.

“Bryce has been an extraordinary ambassador on behalf of U.P. and, in both word and deed, has always put the university, its people, and its Holy Cross mission first,” wrote Medina.

Holy Cross Father Edwin Obermiller is serving as interim vice president for university relations. The priest has ministered at the University of Portland and in the Congregation of Holy Cross in various capacities for more than 25 years.

The search for a permanent vice president for university relations will commence soon after a new university president is named.
