SHERWOOD — At St. Francis School, students blend their Schoolwide Learning Expectations with their Catholic identity, academic lives, and their social and emotional growth.

Since 2004, the school has organized a toy drive for the Oregon National Guard. The effort supports soldiers being deployed during the Christmas season by collecting presents for their children.

This drive is spearheaded by Kathleen Hilburger’s first grade class. There was 100% participation by St. Francis’ first-year pre-kindergarten class through eighth grade.

“A total of 262 toys collected made 262 children very happy this Christmas season,” reads a press release issued by the school. “This is one of the many ways that St. Francis School students demonstrate a strong sense of Gospel values by fostering a spirit of cooperation, sharing and serving the needs of all of God’s creation.”
