NORTH PLAINS — The Trailmen of Trail Life Troop OR-315, a Catholic scouting youth ministry of St. Edward Parish here, recently received an equipment grant from retailers Bass Pro Shop and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund.

Trail Life is a K-12 scouting program that offers boys and parents a faith-based outdoor adventure program placing an emphasis on character development, leadership and moral purity.

“This is a very generous grant, which will help us continue to bring a solid outdoor and leadership program to our Catholic youth,” said Kevin Doran, troopmaster for the group, adding his thanks to troop parent Jose Salame for making the grant possible.

The grant included a Camp Chef three-burner camping stove, coolers, an axe and hatchets, a cast iron Dutch oven, a pop-up canopy and more.

“Our troop is very motivated to provide an engaging outdoor program, which will help father and son relationships and encourage boys to become strong, faithful Catholic men,” said Doran.
