St. Pius X Parish in Northwest Portland hosted a Prayer for Priests novena that began April 23. The prayer was part of the parish’s participation in the national Uplift Your Priest campaign.

The campaign ran from April 20 to May 1 and encouraged parishioners to show love to their priests.

“It is a great way to thank him for all of his sacrifices, especially during Holy Week, to keep all of us connected with our parishes,” said Melliza Palazo, vocations chair for St. Pius X.

The campaign offered a list of suggestions to show support for clergy, including delivering meals, sending notes of support and sending spiritual bouquets.

As part of the “Uplift your Priests” campaign, Palazo and her daughter prepared lasagna and lumpia, Filipino egg rolls, and delivered them to Father Sean Weeks and Father Richard LeFaivre

“I was very excited  when I found out about this campaign,” said Palazo. “I fully support vocations, our priests and seminarians, and this is one way to make them feel that they are very important, loved and really appreciated.”
