Regarding the 150th anniversary special issue, Feb. 7:

I was pleased to see my byline below a couple photos in the anniversary issue. I am still amazed and grateful about how much I contributed over 30 years, making so many issues of the Catholic Sentinel and El Centinela come alive with spectacular images.

There were adventurous moments, traveling through snow, fog and stormy rains from Astoria to Coos Bay, from Baker City to Ashland, often done on Christmas nights, Independence Days and Easter mornings.

Being mugged in Guayaquil, Ecuador; attacked by street folk on Trastevere in Rome; trekking to Winona, Minnesota, in winter to meet a new archbishop; wandering Krakow for good photos: These memories still have great impact on me, just like handling the most difficult assignments of papal events in Denver, Phoenix and Rome.

I always felt I was representing the Catholic Sentinel wherever I was given a chance and was a good ambassador.
