Regarding “The good, the bad, the ugly,” July 5, Page 22:

I do not understand how the Catholics witnessing  the “movement toward a more traditional church reflected in liturgy ... can again experience the transcendence of the divine often found vibrating in the Latin Mass.”

Not even 1% of Catholics understand Latin. How can attending a Latin Mass with “smells and bells” somehow enable Mass attendees to come to a “mature, balanced position where self-determination and the demands of law can be harmonized”?
